Some best practices to ensure you get the best performance and accuracies out of your Trimble equipment with ESRI Field Maps. *Please bear in mind, many of the steps below you would need a solid internet connection either via a SIM or being connected to Wi-Fi or a hotspot.
- Ensure the time and date are set correctly on the TDC6. We’ve seen this cause all sorts of issues if it’s incorrect.
- Go to the Settings App (gear icon) on the TDC6. Search for “system update” in the search bar, and check for updates. If this hasn’t been done in a long time on the TDC6, there may be multiple round of updates to do. Keep checking and installing these Android updates until it says you’re up to date.
- Ensure ALL Apps are up to date on the Google Play Store, especially the Trimble Mobile Manager (TMM) and Esri Field Maps Apps.
- Ensure the DA2 is running the latest firmware. Updating the DA2 firmware using TMM.
- To get the accuracy you require with this system, the field user must have a current and valid Trimble Catalyst subscription assigned to them by your Admin in Trimble License Manager (TLM) and the field user needs to sign into TMM with the same credentials.
- FYI, looking ahead, if you are sharing login credentials, you will very likely run into issues. Trimble has already instituted 2SV on some of their products and sometime in 2026 it will be required on all, including signing into TMM. Please see attached bulletin which describes different options and how to handle. The only way to avoid this is if your organization federated.
- Sometimes accuracy issues have also been resolved by doing a hard reset on the DA2. Resetting the DA2
- If the issue is more in Esri Field Maps App, make sure that the provider under your profile is set to the DA2 and not “Integrated.” Please see: Best practices for using Trimble GNSS receivers with Esri ArcGIS Field Maps for more info.
